January 2007 From the Desk of the DOM Here we are at the beginning of a new year. Can you believe it? Time seems to pass so quickly. I am reminded of one of the lines in the great hymn “Amazing Grace”: “Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.” Praise the Lord for all His bountiful blessings that are poured out on us each day. God is in charge of all things and certainly 2007 is no exception. W.B. Johnson (1782-1862) was the first president of the Southern Baptist Convention. In one of his sermons he said: “God reigns over the whole earth. He reigns in righteousness and power. It is His prerogative to bring order out of confusion. He it is who raises up the scourges of the human family. And it is He who puts them down. They are accomplishing His purposes, though it is not in their hearts to do so. He worketh all things after the counsel of His own righteous and benevolent will. Let His creatures then obey His will, and stand still and see the salvation of God.” It is an incredible assurance to know that our God reigns and we are secure in Him, especially as we face 2007 with all its uncertainties and possibilities. Our future is blessed indeed! As we face the New Year, let’s be sure and always remember this. And may the Lord lead us to have a great year in Kingdom work. May our hearts be full of faith and our lives full of good works? BRYAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION BOWLING LEAGUE? Do you like to bowl? Do you think your church would like to get a team together and be part of what would become the Bryan Baptist Association t Sure, sounds u wa n Bowling League? Jennifer McBride, a member of the Cobb Baptist Do yo l? w like fun! o b to Church is very interested in organizing and directing such an endeavor. This would be a great time of fellowship and friendly competition among the participating churches. If you are interested contact Jennifer at 580-920-6087 or 920-2898 or call the BBA office.

Thank you all My family and I want to thank each church, pastor and church member for their many prayers, cards and phone calls while I was at Baylor under going my transplant for leukemia. I am home recovering, but we ask that you continue to pray that there will be no rejection. It is a wonderful thing for our brothers and sisters in Christ to remember each other and lift us up in prayer. May God, with His wonderful grace, continue to bless each of you and your families in the coming year. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Rev. Some citizens in the surrounding area are interested in starting a new church/ministry at Sunset Cove and this building will serve those needs as well as your needs as a retreat or camp. If you wish to make any contribution toward this goal your gifts will be appreciated. Designate your gifts toward the building project, specifically. Thanks, Win A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband. Suddenly, her husband burst into the kitchen. "Careful," he said, "CAREFUL! Put in some more butter, Oh my Goodness! You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my Goodness! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK! Careful...CAREFUL, I said be CAREFUL!

$ We say a big "THANK YOU!!" to all the churches and individuals who have contributed to the Sunset Cove Ministries! We greatly appreciate all the monetary contributions and the physical contributions are just great! We cannot do anything to improve this ministry without both! Thank you so much! We now have a building fund started with the contributions by Silo Baptist Church and its members designated to go toward the erection and furnishing of a meeting place. The building will have a fully functional kitchen.

Ministry Anniversaries We have had an amazing semester at the Baptist Collegiate Ministries at South- 1/12 - Kerry Groce eastern. God has been working in the hearts of so many students on cam1/96 - Dorothy Anderson, 1/13 - Alton Lynch Durant First pus...drawing them into a closer relationship with him, calling them out to serve, 1/14 - Paula Smith teaching them to think and engage the world around them with lives impacted 1/99 - Darel Bunch, Calvary by Jesus Christ. I am happy to report that students have been meeting together 1/19 - Bob Fuller 1/01 - Lon & Judy Bolan, throughout the semester in small groups...discussing the Bible, praying for one 1/20 - Ethel Gray Utica another, challenging each other...these student led groups are just getting started 1/23 - Patricia Ann Mock 1/01 - Sonya Geiger, Calera and the leaders and I have learned a few things this semester that should make 1/1/00 - Billie Robinson, Silo next semester even better. Our Thursday night service, known to students as the 1/30 - Jeff Weibling Crossroads, has doubled in attendance since last year. I have had the privilege 1/31 - Gail Jackson 1/1/05 - Ashley McLarry, Silo to teach over 100 students each week this semester. We even had over a hunWedding Anniversaries dred when it was slick and icy a few weeks back! This is a tribute to God at 1/11 - Darel & Cindy Bunch 1/26/04 - Lisa Osuna, Fairwork in our students and on this campus. We have been working hard to mainview tain good channels of communication with the staff and administration of the University and they repeatedly express their appreciation for the ministries we provide to students and faculty. God is doing great things! I hope you celebrate with us in what God is doing because this is not just our story at the BCM...this is YOUR story. You are a vital part of the ministry of the Southeastern BCM. I am paid through the BGCO by your cooperative program dollars and our programming is made possible through gifts from Bryan Baptist Association churches and other supporters. Our biggest meeting each week is made possible by wonderful women and men at BBA churches who provide home-cooked meals for students, faculty, and staff each Wednesday at Noonday. Thank you to all those who continue to make Noonday possible...I am constantly receiving good comments from those who you are ministering to. One student said that Wednesday is their favorite day of the week because they get to enjoy a great meal and great conversation around the tables at the BCM. God is using those conversations to draw students to himself. Another ministry that has begun this year is the Southeastern BCM Road Crew. We have had the opportunity to take a student worship band, a drama team, a speaker or two, and other student supporters to three churches already...Mead, FBC Bokchito, and Calvary. We would like to come to your church too on a Wednesday night to give you a first hand look at what God is doing in the lives of college students. We will be going to Mead, Emmanuel and Fairview in January and would love to schedule a trip to every BBA church in the next year and a half. If you would like to schedule the BCM Road Crew to come to your church for a church wide event or for a youth event or if you want to know more about what God is doing at Southeastern, please call me at 580.924.0618. The students are going to be out on break, but God won' t be! Pray that God will continue to have access to the hearts of students over this break and that Spring 2007 will bear much fruit for Jesus Christ on campus at Southeastern. Merry Christmas and thanks for supporting the Baptist Collegiate Ministries. Brandon Brister, Director, Southeastern BCM
