Read Philippians 3:12-14. Paul openly states that he is not perfect and falls short; yet he presses on and keeps striving for righteousness. How can we keep pressing on and staying motivated, even when we know we will never be perfect or arrive at what we are striving for? Should we give up or maybe just acknowledge we are good in some areas and not in others and hope that is good enough?
Read 1 Corinthians 13:1-7. In this list of the characteristics of love, share with your group the areas in which you think you do a good job and the areas in which you struggle?

What can you do as an individual—and as a group as a whole—to be loving toward others in a way that draws others to Christ?
Is there someone that you need to forgive or a resentment you need to release with someone in your life who has wronged you? How can you do that?
PREDICTIONS Week 3
3 Reasons to leave the Church… Reason #1 - If the resurrection didn’t happen Jesus said, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” John 2:18
Reason #2 - If Jesus promised a non-suffering life Jesus said, “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.” Matthew 24:9
Reason #3 - If Jesus’ _____________________ never came true

1. Jesus predicted the _____________________ of the temple.
“As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.” ~ Jesus in Luke 21:6 “When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.” Luke 21:20-24
Getting to Know You 1.
If you had to pick just one thing that Christians do, or even something that people think Christians do, that is most responsible for driving others away from Jesus or the church, what would you say it is?
Is it wrong to leave a church because of other people in the church? Have you done that, and why?
What are some things that you do that could make Jesus less appealing to others? Have you ever caused anyone else to walk away from the church because of something you did? What can we learn about ourselves from experiences like this?
Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged you, or confused you?

2. Jesus predicted the ______________________ of the Church. “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18 “Yet against all odds, by the third century, Christianity had become a force to be reckoned with. We still do not really understand how this came about.” Karen Armstrong, author and critic of the Christian faith.
3. Jesus predicted how his followers would be ___________________. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 Most people don’t leave the Church because of _________________; they leave because of ________________________. The Christian response to an easily offended culture is to retain a ___________ front and develop a ________________ back.
Into the Bible 5.
Read John 13:34-35. If we are supposed to be known for our love for one another, how do you think we are doing? How can Christians do a better job of showing love for others? Try to be as specific and tangible as possible in sharing what you think.
